Responsibilities
- Manage and prioritize daily workflow/load to employees. Ensuring work efficiency within a safe environment. Also, provide support to warehouse staff and product repair technicians on performance and improvement development.
- Manage the Warehouse Staff – hiring and firing, with Owner's input and approvals. - Coordinate all shipping and receiving requirements with the Warehouse Lead. - Communicate and oversee transportation companies to ensure the best costs and methods for each shipment.
- This is for Domestic and International. Also, follow up on all issues and inquiries in a professional manner.
- Responsible for Supply Chain Management processes, warehousing capacities, and inventory control such as what moves in and out of the warehouse, cycle counts, etc.
- Responsible for managing Fleet Maintenance. This would include working with service shops for all mechanical issues. These repairs would be tracked and followed up for any warranty issues or mechanical defects.
- Coordinate with the Road Operations Manager regarding equipment and inventory required along with trucks/trailers.
- Always looking to improve Warehousing and Logistics.
- Meet with the Warehouse Lead and Warehouse Staff to coordinate the work for the day. (Employees should have a notepad to write down all that is required for the day.) - Oversee workflow/load capacities to employees and ensure work efficiency within a safe environment.
- Work with staff on the floor when loads are time-critical. (Help with unloading containers and loading some show trucks when needed).
- Check on all warehouse and logistics inquiries by e-mail, phone, and fax and follow up. - Regularly check the show schedules and verify with the Road Operations Manager what booth supplies and stock will need to be transported. Update the show schedules on the board for warehouse employees.
- Monitor logistical movement for all shipments moving. This would include writing out BOL’s and commercial documentation for all FTL and LTL shipping.
- Continue with professional relationships with logistic companies and ensure that we are maintaining competitive pricing. Also, shop around for other logistic companies that may offer better service and pricing.
- Monitor truck and trailer maintenance to ensure all is in good working order. Track and monitor all repairs done for recall or warranty issues.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance as per the Safety Fitness Program. (Fleet Program) - Implement and enforce safety standards for all warehouse employees.
- Manage and oversee inventory movement and counts. (Make sure employees are filling in packing –shipping slips and receiving slips in a timely manner)
- Overview all count variances and follow up with the Warehouse Lead.
- Purchase materials for the warehouse when required
- Communicate with external warehouses for the storage of Redfern products and the shipping / receiving from these external warehouses to shows when required.
- When required pursue all shipping / receiving claims and follow up with claim inquiries.
What can be done in addition to ensuring all the required above is done more accurately and organized.
- Work with Upper Management for wholesale and liquidation projects. This would be for discontinued and refurbished Inventory.
- Create a trucking rate spreadsheet. This would allow monitoring all trucking company costs and ensuring that we are paying accordingly for all FTL and LTL trucking.
- Become more involved with the show inventory reconciliation. Be more proactive with getting the packing and receiving slips. Enter inventory in the reconciliation spreadsheet.
- Continue to utilize the maintenance spreadsheet to show how much we are incurring in expenses due to fleet maintenance. Also, catalog all work completed on trucks electronically for easy recall of maintenance done.
- Track all equipment available for all shows. (Equipment Inventory) Used in conjunction with the booths booked at the shows to utilize all equipment when necessary.
- Work more with the Repair Technicians to see if anything can be worked together on. Example: better communication when equipment is dropped off to be fixed, or If new equipment is being made that it is loaded in trucks/trailers for the shows designated.
- Eventually being in the loop with Repair Technicians dealing with the vendor about manufacturing defects and extra parts.
- Deal more closely with employee concerns about the job they perform. Bring feedback to improve employee/employer relations.
