About the Role
As the Field Service Manager, you will be responsible for managing the profit and loss performance of a regional field service organization. This includes overseeing project execution, budgeting, forecasting, staffing, and customer engagement. You’ll lead a high-performing team, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and provide technical support for complex field operations.
This role requires in-depth knowledge of electric substation systems, particularly power transformers.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Manage P&L for assigned region
- Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts
- Monitor cost centers and project expenses
- Support timely invoicing and cash collection
- Team Leadership & Development
- Hire, train, and mentor field service staff
- Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and manage career development
- Ensure staff compliance with safety and quality procedures
- Project & Operations Management
- Lead execution of service projects: subcontractor management, procurement, scheduling, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and internal standards
- Provide on-site project supervision as needed
- Review and approve final technical reports and field test data
- Customer & Sales Support
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
- Support quoting process, site walk-throughs, and contract development
- Provide technical input and presentations for sales opportunities
What You’ll Bring
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree with proven experience
- Deep knowledge of electric substation systems, especially power transformers
- Understanding of financial principles: P&L, cash flow, capital projects
- Familiarity with DOT and OSHA regulations
- Ability to travel approximately 30%
- Preferred:
- Experience in utility or industrial electrical service
- Exposure to marketing and sales practices
Additional Information
- Working Relationships: Collaborates closely with customers, Finance, Field Service and Project Managers, Lead Technicians, and manufacturing plants.
- Work Environment: Office-based with regular travel to customer sites and service locations
- Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting or standing may be required
