Job Summary:
The Lead Sewer is responsible for overseeing the sewing operations, ensuring products are sewn accurately and efficiently. This role involves training new sewers, maintaining sewing machines, and coordinating with the sewing team to meet production goals. The Lead Sewer also assigns tasks based on production needs and ensures quality standards are consistently met.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Train and lead a team to sew and close all filled items after the filling process.
· Assign tasks and manage workflow based on production schedules.
· Provide training and guidance to new and existing team members.
· Monitor team performance and provide feedback.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Ensure each item is sewn neatly, with no loose threads, while meeting all quality standards.
· Maintain sewing machines, equipment, and tools used in daily work.
· Assist in other areas when needed, including pre-inspection, in-line inspection, and pack-out.
· Maintain or exceed the production pace set by the Production Supervisor.
· Order materials needed for the sewing team.
· Help maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Qualifications:
· Experience operating both single needle and serger sewing machines.
· Basic understanding of sewing machine maintenance.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
· Good communication skills.
Education and Experience:
· High School degree, diploma, or GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
· Minimum of 3 years experience sewing in a production line or commercial facility.
· Experience training and supervising a team of sewers.
· Proficiency in handling different fabrics and materials.
· Familiarity with production processes and quality control standards.
