Purpose of the role:
• Responsible for day-to-day processing of financial transactions, including : sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, bank and VAT reconciliation
• Assist the Finance Manager to ensure smooth month end close, and the production of profit and loss financial reports
Responsibilities:
• Oversee purchase ledger, processing invoices into the system, and preparing for BACS runs
• Manage sales ledger by running debtor reports, matching payments into the bank with outstanding debt, and liaising with credit accounts to ensure timely payments are received
• Assist with financial reporting such as bank reconciliation, VAT reconciliation, and sales reports as and when needed by business stakeholders
• Oversee payroll; responsibilities include processing clock-in reports, entering expenses and commissions, management of SSP and SMP payments, processing new starters and leavers, running monthly payroll, HMRC submissions
• Management of fixed asset register
• Ensure a smooth and timely month end process, and produce post-month-end P&L and financial reports
• Assist the finance manager with adhoc tasks and reporting
Professional Qualifications and Qualities:
• Suited to someone who has worked in a similar role for at least 3 years
• Experience with P&L management, and financial reports
• Experience running payroll processes
• Good understanding of sales and purchase ledgers
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work proactively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Proficient in the use of financial software, including accounting packages and Excel
